Instituted in 1880, 14 July is a very popular date that is celebrated all over France.

During the day, a military parade is organised in Paris between the Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde, via the Champs-Élysées. Military ceremonies also take place in many towns in the country.

At night, fireworks are launched in most communes, generally accompanied by a dance and concerts. Depending on the place, the festivities may take place on the eve of 14 July or in the evening on the day itself, which enables some people to celebrate the national day twice!

THE DIANE PRIZE

Description : The Diane Prize is a horse race that takes place every year in June at Chantilly racecourse. In an exceptional setting, at the foot of the castle and the Grand Stables of the Princes of Condé, this race meeting is a combination of sporting performance and feminine elegance. Since 1843, fashionistas in extraordinary hats have come here to rub shoulders with experts in galloping races.

The Diane Prize offers nine horse races that are run at breakneck speed. The prize is awarded to the best European filly on a distance of 2,100 metres, at an average speed of 60 km/hour. A chic lunch on the grass and a free concert are organised on the lawn. The event attracts around 30,000 visitors every year.

Description:  Monaco Grand Prix has been held by the Monaco Automobile Club since 1929. The circuit covers the narrow territory of the Principality of Monaco, which stretches along a narrow strip of coast that reaches an almost vertical incline in places. This circuit features on the calendar of the Formula 1 World Championship, and is considered the slowest and hardest circuit. With a top speed of over 300 km/h, the slightest error can be fatal. Faced with these difficulties, many drivers have dreamed of winning the Grand Prix, whose list of winners includes big names like Schumacher, Senna, Prost, Fangio and Graham Hill.

Watching the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix is an unforgettable moment. Free trials and qualifiers take place on the first days. The last day is the race itself, and the Grand Prix in 78 laps.

Description: The Roland-Garros tournament, also known as the French Internationals, is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. It has taken place every year since 1925 at Roland-Garros stadium in Paris. The tournament takes place on twenty clay courts, the main one being the Philippe-Chatrier court. Matches are played in five sets, with no deciding game in the last set. Qualifiers take place over four days, and then the fortnight-long competition starts. The Musketeers’ Cup is awarded to the winner of the men’s singles, and the Suzanne Lenglen cup to the winner of the ladies’ singles. There are also trophies for the winners of the men’s doubles, ladies’ doubles and mixed doubles.

Description: The Paris Marathon is now one of the most important marathons in the world, in terms of the size of the pack as well as the performances achieved there. Over a hundred nations and 40,000 entrants come to battle it out over the 42.195 km of this mythical athletics challenge.

Since 1976, the Paris Marathon has crossed the city every year in the second weekend in April, offering an incomparable backdrop full of activities, each one more popular than the next. The personal challenge is therefore combined with a tour of Paris, taking sportspeople to pound the asphalt on the most prestigious roads and squares: at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, participants set off down the Champs-Elysées, towards the Concorde. Rue de Rivoli will then lead them to Place de la Bastille, and after a “green » stretch in Vincennes wood, the difficulty of the route is tempered by the views of Notre-Dame Cathedral and then the Eiffel Tower.
